WTF invites participants to St. Petersburg.
WTF has announced that the 2nd WTF World Para-Taekwondo Championships will be organized by WTF on May 11th, 2010 in St. Petersburg, Russia.
The first championships for handicapped people were staged last year in Baku, Azerbaijan and marked a historical moment. International sport societies, notably the International Paralympic Committee (IPC), widely recognized this event. Following this competition, WTF has taken very earnest steps to put taekwondo in 2016 Paralympic Games by submitting the relevant application documents to the IPC.This is thanks to very active participation of many countries and strong support from the organizing committee.
WTF wants these championships to be an initiative to organize sport-for-all events for taekwondo athletes with a disability. Hopefully in the long run, the sport of taekwondo will be able to contribute not only to the world of sport but also to humanity.
Therefore WTF wants to encourage every member National Association to embrace this noble undertaking and actively participate in the 2nd WTF World Para-Taekwondo Championships. The relevant documents such as entry forms and hotel reservation forms will be sent out from the organizing committee to National Federations.
